December 30, 2002 - Text: Sequential-X

1. How did you find the crowd response on Christmas eve and overall what are your impressions of that night ?

That was amazing !!!!! People were into what I played really well.

2. I noticed that there was especially for that night a pair of good old
wheels-of-steel, people do not use them very often these days though, so
what do you think about vinyl, will it survive ?

Yes, it will be both CDJ's and turn tables, especially Pionner's CDJ-1000, we use six of them in our live set (Joujouka). In my opinion though, the analogue sound is still much better than the CD sound.

3. What shall we expect from you in the future, what are your future plans
both as a dj and a producer ?

Still between DJing everywhere in the world and producing for Joujouka. We are going to produce someone else's album next year apart from doing our own in house production. Also I am running my label, Feedback Recordings and doing the regular party Tokiodrome. My mix CD, "Break The System Down" will be out in Europe around March or April time and Joujouka's new album will be out before summer in Europe.

4. If somebody asked you to categorize the Joujouka sound what tag would
you use ?

Well, the new album sounds more progressive with hardhouse (not cheesy though), 80's electrohouse and breaks influences.

5. What shall we expect from Joujouka as a band regarding evolution and
sound progression, what new ideas are you about to test drive ?

Our sound will be more 80's influenced, 80's are my biggest musical influence since much of my musical background belongs to this decade.

6. You seem to have abandoned the psychedelic scene for years now but
still many elements of that style can be spotted in your music, could you
comment please on that ?

Psychedelic trance music is just one more tag nowadays. Like heavy-metal rock. There is no progression in it at all.. I can't stay in one style of music for many years.....I still love the scene and people but sadly music is like that...

7. This one is a bit tricky... well what happened to Andy Guthrie (he used
to be a favourite producer of mine) your old partner from Prana ?

He is really busy teaching music to students in UK.

8. I remember you doing some work for Yamaha (presets and demos for synths, samplers etc.). Are you still working for them ?

Not really much now...but I am cooperating with Pioneer, Korg, TC-Electric, etc...

9. What you think about this softsynths vs hardsynths frenzy ?

I think both of them are great. Indigo2 is one of my favourite hardsynths around.

10. Please pick your favourite equipment from both worlds (one from the
software world and one from the hardware one).

Hardware is above. I like also TC-Electric ,Fireworx and Voice Prism. Software includes Absynth, Omboys, etc...

11. Please tell us about your favourite band right now, could please add
the reason for liking that band so much ?

My favourite is Gary Numan, Death in Vegas, right now. Also stuff from City Rockers records. Coz' there are 80's and electrohouse elements in it.

12. Last question, are you involved in a record label, if no are you
planning to do so ?

I feel sorry that you didn't know about my label, Feedback Recordings.... I am working in it since September 2002 so....

12. Please close this interview with a statement, a wish or anything else that
pops up in mind.

Thanx
