PeLinPaLa - "My CD has landed on the next door neighbours dog""
PeLinPaLa is a big name in Finland's dance scene and Demon Tea is one of Australia's finest labels so such a combination should be a killer one or not ?
Well "My CD has landed on the next door neighbours dog" is an album that causes mixed feelings. As I am writing this lines I am in a weird state of mind (regarding the album of course) but my final decision is that it is a good album but not as good as it should be, confused yet ?
Anyway this is certainly twisted and psychedelic but it feels incomplete. Some tracks sound like trash but some are really first rate. It has its ups and downs but if all the tracks had the quality of "Jazz Cabalero" regarding detail this could be a much better album, in fact some tracks sound rushed which is not a good thing at all.
Hilights include the awesome "Jazz Cabalero" with its crazy and truly psychedelic arrangement "Light, Atoms & Molecules" targeting in more traditional Finnish trance formulas and the super duper funk of "Funk Da Mental Supastar Mamafucka" with its quirky disco overtones and groovy drum programming that transform it to a dancefloor monster.
In the good points please add the truly awesome artwork which is a fine reprocude of the hippie feeling during the 60's (dunno but personally I love it) and the phat yet resonance rich production.
Overall this is a CD that collectors (experimentalists) should have in their collection, Djs should consider it too since their is some good trancefloor material in here but normal trance listeners give it an ear b4 u buy.
Tip of the day : Avoid mixing this CD with alcohol, drugs or any other mind expand, limit, distort, boggle etc. enhancer. The results may be unpredictable.
