Trance in Greece has a big history, everything started before 5 years when some small teams were throwing parties in the woods and deserted warehouses, then the biggest "rave" team caught on this and soon became one of the best trance nights in the world with DJ's and acts like Tsuyoshi, Mark Allen, Etnica, Kox Box etc. but as the scene started to split into European dark trance and Israeli happy morning tunes "Sunrise Zone" picked up the latter and soon in Greece every party was playing "morning music" , irritating and so much boring music with the odd breakdown and ultra fat kicks that started to fuck your brain after a sort time. It was the time that I moved to techno and drum n' bass(I have a big history with drum n' bass too as it was the first thing that brought me to the dance scene in the form of hardcore), the trance scene could live without me so it continued to gather kids who had a great happy vibe but the whole thing started to commercialize and TV caught on accusing promoters for drugs and everything. That was the downfall of the trance empire, now things are quite stable as there are two teams throwing parties, one plays Israeli stuff the other plays X-Dream-Tim Schult stuff but things are not as they used to be the crowd is not good and the vibe is bad...although Sunrise Zone in a cooperation with Blue Buzz are trying to bring the magic back, I hope they will succeed...they had Frank E' on Saturday you know.
  On the production tip now we have many acts doing their thing but most of them are crap(sorry guys), the most known are Cyan with their Beast from the East album and Mike Verros who is collaborating with the Israeli guys for some top Arabic stuff that sounds as old as my grandmother. It maybe weird for you that I am being disrespectful with my "brothers" but I want to say that this is a personal opinion and it has nothing to do with politics, I just don't like what they are doing, in the same way I hate Astral Projection(they are doing it for the money and that pisses me off).
  Finally I would like to finish on happy vibe so if you like the Israeli sound then here is the paradise for you if you don't then wait for the big T to come and play some serious stuff in a way he only knows...the big T is Tsuyoshi Suzuki ofcourse. That's for now I hope I didn't create a bad mood to you. On a last tip if you want to visit my lovely country do so, you will have a great time but pick summer not winter, things get really "hot" in summer, great parties in the beach with lots of people from all over the world.
