Party with Gus Till and Cozi
Almiros Volou (8/7/00)
Well well well.myself and friends left from Thessaloniki on a Saturday evening this summer (8/7/00) to go to a party in Almiros Volou which is about 350 km away. I really like the music Gus Till (Bus) makes and the Flying Rhino style in general so I had high hopes for this party and did not mind the distance we travelled. At first we thought it would be a beach party as the organizers suggested people to bring their swimming suitsand I was really disappointed to discover that the venue took place at a village disco (!!!).the type of disco which has a crappy sound system situated above a small circular dancefloor, small decorative water fountains and plastic chairs that you find at a seaside bar.no need to say that there was no decoration (banners, black lights..etc.) whatsoever.
Anyway, we were in a good mood and listening to some good music would compensate for everythingwhen we arrived some local djs were playing.really crap music and mixingrather housey with some trance tracks in between, did not even bother to find out what they were playing and names of djs ..so sat down, had a chat and looked at the crowd.i avoid taking the piss of people at parties but this crowd was way too hilarious.there were around 30 people from Thessaloniki (easily identified), lots of young local boys and girls who tried their best to look and act like like kandy ravers or at least club people (the way they are presented in media !!) and last but not least many people from Athens.many being completely fucked up.it was a circus !!!! What bothered me most is that the crowd from Athens would shout eeeeeeeeeeee!!!!! and lifted their hands in the air in every bloody track for as long and as loud as they could..i understand that sometimes it is good both for the dj and the crowd to re
spond like this 2-3 times in a dj set but this got out of hand, the sound system was so crap that we all had to hear 2 minutes of eeeeeeeee!!!! in each track.perhaps they thought we were in goa.what can I say !!!!!!
Anyway, this annoying situation made me take quite a few walks outside the club, then Bus played for a very short time in a what da fuck attitude, which I can understand why but as a professional he could have played at least for an hour for the people who traveled some distance and paid money to see himit seems that ouzo is more important to him..and then his Japanese girlfriend played (I wonder why he did not bring any other relativesoh how I wished Andrew Till played instead !!!!!). Hearing Cozi play I thought it was probably the first time she played a set e.g. a paps track followed by atmos then delta and after manmademanabsolutely no coherence in the setI actually thought that tracks were played randomlyof course the crowd would shout eeeeeeee!!!!!! in every track.so the circus continued !!!
Overall, this party was the joke of the summer and most of all I was disappointed by Gus Till and his attitude and not so much by the crowd or the organizers (Greek party organizers suck anyway- all going for the quick and easy buck- as we say : arpahtes !!!!).
